[E-mail] New user unable to access work E-mail (Exchange Server)

Well Yahoo mail works, and I am currently using my T-Mobile cell phone for work email, but this is a real show stopper if I can't get around it. I am using Outlook 2013 as the mail client. Has anyone run into this problem before? Is it a blocked port issue? Or funny spam filtering rules Suddenlink has in place? Do any of you know of a way to work around the problem (if you have seen it or something like it)? Thanks, --Charles

Upgraded to 200 mbps, but still have slow speeds?

Well, I just upgraded to the 200 Mbps/unlimited plan, but my speed is still around 38 Mbps down / 20 Mbps up. I really don't know a lot about connections, but this really doesn't seem right. I do not expect to get the 200 speed, but better than what I originally had would be nice. I originally had 100, so I guess there wasn't any reason for me to have even had that? If I were to change my plan to 50, would I notice a difference if my speed is never 50? At least it would save me some money? I called and was told that there are so many factors why I don't get 200 which I completely understand, but not even any increase in speed whatsoever after this upgrade? Is this common?

[Connectivity] Severe Lag Spikes ONLY While Streaming Games

So i've had a problem for a few months now where I experience severe lag spikes while streaming. These lag spikes last for 20 minutes and then clear up. My internet speeds go from the normal 75MBPS Download and 6MBPS upload to 1MBPS download and 6MBPS upload. This happens usually every day that I stream at least once, then it clears up and I resume streaming for the rest of the day without issues. The issue never occurs at the same time of day, it's happened pretty much at any given time during the day that i'm streaming. The internet will literally hit the lag spike, my in-game MS spikes to 3,000 and then after 20 minutes without fail it just clears up without me even restarting my modem. I have replaced every piece of hardware (Modem/Router/Ethernet Cables/Coaxial Cables/). I have tried using a different cable wall outlet for my modem. I have had 2 tech's come out to test signal strength and see if they could find anything (I have Suddenlink). I have tried both X-Split and OBS and have altered the settings in both (bitrate/fps/resolution downscale). I have tried streaming to different servers and using a VPN. I have also tried connecting directly to my modem without using the router. Basically i've tried troubleshooting and replacing everything the best I can without any luck. I t's worth mentioning that I am streaming World of Warcraft and have OBS, Skype, Spotify (in offline mode) and Google Chrome (with twitch pop-out chat) opened. Wi-Fi is disabled and I am directly connected to my router. The only other person my apartment unit using the internet is my GF. I have ruled out that it's the bandwidth shared between the 3 neighbors that share the apartment building with me because this will happen at times that they are at work and i'm the only one home. I'm frustrated beyond belief because I just want to stream without the stress of hitting one of these lag spikes. Thanks for reading my post and hopefully somebody can help me with this 3

Modem rental required for gigabit service?

Just got off the phone with an agent and they said that they require modem rental for gigabit service. Is this really a requirement or is this akin to them "requiring" static IPs for business internet? Anyone have any luck with just using their own capable modem?

[Connectivity] Nodes\Backup Power

I have a Business Account What is the typical backup power run times on the nodes when the power goes out? My node come out of Pilot Point/Little Elm Texas. My power went out about 10:10PM and the RF Signal went out about 10~15 Minutes later. My ups kept the network switches and router up until about 11:50PM and I turned everything off. 5 Minutes later the power came back on and the RF Signal was back. Anyway we can get extended run times on these nodes? I never lost the cell phone tower during all of this. Regards, Thomas -- You never know when you need your old hardware till you throw it out. An EE once told me, If the hammer you are using is not working, You need to use a larger hammer.

I upgraded to the new plan and only getting around 80mbs. On SLinks website this modem is one of the recommended http://help.suddenlink.com/internet/Pages/CompatibilityList.aspx?product=Modem I called support and they told me this modem won't give me the 200 speed,so why in the world is it on their compatibility list ? Or was I talking to someone that just didn't know how to help me ? Is there something I need to change in the configuration to get my speed up or do I really need to buy another modem ? I bought this one at the recommendation of the SL tech that installed my service a couple of months back .

is there a catch to the 200meg unlimited data $59 plan in NC?

I was speaking with a Suddenlink rep in Greenville, NC. He advised me that Suddenlink now has a 200meb unlimited data $59 plan in Greenville. He said that it was "truly unlimited and you can download or upload as much as you want...." Is there a catch somwhere? You know the old saying, if it's too good to be true, it probably is? Did Suddenlink bury a hidden fine print that says unlimited data customers can't download more than 1000GB or more per month or something like that? Thanks!

SL Business and drops/timeouts

Hello all, Got a small circuit from Suddenlink business to hold me over until my fiber circuit contract gets closer to expiring. Attached it to my CCR1009. Linked up using DHCP. I have a constant 10-20mb flowing through it. Trouble is, it is dropping connection several times an hour, for 2-3 secs or up to 15-20 secs, then comes right back up. There are zero errors on the interface, nothing obviously wrong...anything else I should check? If it keeps doing this I will have to do something else....Called SL they tested it completely, naturally no problems, even though I watched it drop five times while on hold. Tidbits of info: SL modem is connecting at 1000mb, I have used it at 100mb, no change. Have tried with TX/RX flow control on/off/auto no changes. Mk Firmware is 6.33.3 I had a constant ping to SL gateway. It would also timeout when the connection dropped. Tech said they are blocking some ping responses (it did coincide though)

FTP not working?

I have been trying all afternoon to access the Suddenlink webspace. I have been unable to login (530 Login incorrect). I can login to SL email and the SL website without any issues. Tech Support was absolutely no help at all, saying that it was probably a typo with password. Maybe once or twice, but not 10 times in succession. Steps taken Hostname: pages.suddenlink.net, Username: ******@suddenlink.net, Password **********. Port:21. I started about 2:15Pm and I am taking a break before calling Tech Support again. Any thoughts ?

suddenlink low caps

Now that comcast is moving up to 1 terabyte lowest cap, mainly because the fcc is getting all the complaints about them and is starting to look into them, suddenlink will be one of the few wireline isp's that will still have a low cap. Everybody in area's that are stuck with the low cap's should start fireing off letters to the fcc and maybe theirs will go to 1 terabyteh. Hopefully the fcc with put a complete stop to caps, seeing they are just a money grab for isp's and are to hurt online competition like sling tv, vue tv,netflix, hulu, or others that are going to more like pick and play for tv. filing a formal complaint https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/filing-informal-complaint

[Connectivity] Packet loss on and off since last Friday

Hello all, I'm hoping to get some help here. I've called Suddenlink, replaced my own equipment ($200) and still have been having random timeouts. I started noticing it last Friday when playing "The Division" on PC. It is very sensitive to packet loss and will drop you after a few lost packets. I started a ping test just to google.com while I was playing and watched packets completely drop random to the site. I then ran ping limiter and found packets dropping randomly on the way to google.com. Sometimes it would drop on the 2nd and 3rd hops (suddenlink - 173.219.245.61 / 173.219.241.234 other times further through the route. Sometimes when it's really bad I get packet loss mostly down the entire route. I've tested a laptop straight to the modem and it still does the same thing. I had a tech out on Monday that checked all of my cabling in the house and tested the cabling from the box to my house too. He said everything is fine there. I'm now in a battle with tech support to get someone on a higher level to look into it. I was wondering if there were any tips you guys could provide? I'm an IT engineer, I understand how these things work. I am 99.9% sure there's an issue somewhere outside of my house, whether it be at the box for my neighborhood or further down the node somewhere.

can I have a gigabitswitch between SL modem and wireless router?

my wireless router is a Linksys WRT54G(yes, one of those really old ones from almost a decade ago) It continues to work fine because I have no wireless devices that require any real bandwidth. however, I upgraded to 200mbps tier a little while ago, and the WRT54G is only capable of delivering 50mbps, even via the wired ethernet ports. Can I just add a gigabit switch between the SL modem and the WRT54G? I'll just connect my PC to the gigabit switch via ethernet cable, in order to get the full 200mbps. Or is that a really dumb idea that will leave me PC unprotected from the internet? I assume the router has firewall, but the gigabit switch doesn't? Thanks!

What causes cable to pixelate when internet is in use.

Been happening for like 2 weeks now and the only tech that has came out did so when it wasn't happening so did nothing. Any time I watch a stream or download/load a website the cable pixelates and stop when I stop using internet. Only affecting the SD boxes, does not affect HD Pace box at all.

[Connectivity] Upgraded from 200mbit to Gigabit, still getting same speed?

Hoping to reach a Suddenlink rep here to help spur things along. We upgraded our 200mbps connection on May 2nd, but the technician never tested the connection and once I got home from work I saw that we were only getting around 150-300mbps - no where near gigabit. I tested by disconnecting everything else and going straight wired to the modem, but no difference. We had a technician come out who dismissed our concerns and said the service is advertised for only for up to gigabit. After getting red in the face at how rude, belittling, and dismissive he was being, I insisted that there was an issue. He stayed for around an hour or so and looked at the wiring outside before saying that the wiring to the house itself was bad (put in by Cox Cable I believe) and that there were splitters everywhere that could be causing issues. He said he would call in a maintenance crew and that we should be expecting a call but we have not heard anything yet. I've reached out yesterday and today and the CSRs have no record of a maintenance work order in place. Can someone look into this and help us out? I just set up a request for a technician to come back out on Saturday, but according to the last tech, only a maintenance crew can do the job?

[Caps] Uncapped Residential Service

I have a few friends that work one of the Suddenlink Call centers. Apparently they received an email today saying that on April 1st Suddenlink would offer uncapped service on some of their Tiers of service. I have confirmed this info with 3 different technicians. Unfortunately all of them had slightly different stories. The first who informed me of this change told me that the 1Gb (Tier 4) would become uncapped. The second Told me that the Tier 3(200Meg) and Tier 4(1Gb) services could be upgraded to unlimited for 5$ more a month for existing customers for 12 months and and new customers (After April 1st) Would receive this for free for the first 12 months but the couldn't tell me what would happen after 12 months. The last Technician Mirrored the second except gave me clear info on what would happen after 12 months saying that after the first 12months the price would go up to 10$ a month. If this info is true then I will be switching from my Business service (as my contracted ended last month) Can anyone confirm this info? Have you heard anything similar?

Anyone else notice that Pete's account here is flagged for inactive? Can no longer send messages to him.... wonder if he's a casualty of being bought out.

sometimes my router and SL cable modem won't connect with each o

sometimes my router and SL cable modem won't connect with each other and I just can't figure out why. let me explain: the "globe" symbol on my Linksys wireless router starts to flash, indicating that internet connection was lost. if I unplug the cable from the WAN port and connected it to my PC's ethernet port, internet works fine, so this means the problem isn't on Suddenlink's end. however, if I take out another spare router(Netgear) and plug it in, the internet connection gets lost after about an hour or two as well... again, if I take the cable from the WAN and plug it into the PC, the internet works fine again. (tried with a 3rd router, a TP-Link, same results) resetting either router never solves this issue.... however, this issue *only* occurs every couple of weeks and *only* between 2AM and 11AM. (according to the logs stored on my PC) this "problem" has been driving me bananas and I'd appreciate any suggestions on what the cause can possibly be? thanks!

Suddenlink FTTH

Looks like Suddenlink is experimenting with FTTH in Troup, tx. I drove through about a month ago and noticed a bunch of new fiber hanging on the poles. Talked to a tech today and he said they are using Troup as an experiment. He said they are running fiber to the home and then putting a mini node in. Not sure how well this plan will scale because he said it requires dedicated fiber to each house.
