is my CM820A modem's firmware current? I bought it from the local Suddenlink office for $34 a little more than a year ago. When I go to 192.168.100.1, I see the following: ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 Touchstone WideBand Cable Modem HW_REV: 1 VENDOR: Arris Interactive, L.L.C. BOOTR: 1.2.1.62 SW_REV: 7.5.93 MODEL: CM820A

West Virginia crooked goverment.

On behalf of frontier, suddenlink. WV government sold out the people in WV with sb 115. They caved into the frontier and suddenlink lobbiest and changed the bill to probably one writen by suddenlink and frontier. Apperently WV will never have a government for the people. Here is a story over at fiercetelecom that pretty much tells what suddenlink and frontier got. http://www.fiercetelecom.com/story/frontier-suddenlink-convince-west-virginia-scale-back-middle-mile-plans/2016-02-16 Also on bill sb 16 that passed. It grants $500.00 dollars tax credit to any telco or cable company in WV for every address they add in rural area's. Is nice suddenlink a foreign company now in west virginia with all they are doing to the people in the state will get $500.00 dollars for every new address they add. Will help with all the rest of drali's 42.5 profit he gets from suddenlink that he is sending back to his country to fix his messup's over there. While we in some area's are stuck on the most expensive price's in the world for broadband. And the expensive overages for low,low caps, lowest of the broadband isp's. ("not counting dsl") in the lowest broadband isp, mean isp's that offer at least the 25/3.

was just wondering if anyone else in Northern WV are able to get higher than 50 mb service..if I go to there website it shows I can get 75 mb and 100 mb service, but wouldnt my modem show more than 8 channels down and 2 up? reason im asking is we have been hitting out cap for the last few months..hell went over 2 months and when we get that browser message it says to go to higher speed...whats bad..this year we are not doing anything different but all of a sudden we are hitting the cap every month..did something change..before we never hit 100 gigs..... just kinda getting an idea if going to the 75 mb service would be better if we trully can get in my area

[Bill] What you get when you ask

I was at the local Suddenlink office for the first time in a good 2-3 years a couple of days ago, changing a remote out that had stopped working and returning a tuner box I no longer needed. Since my bill now tops $200 with just the 200 channel package and unlimited 100Mb Internet, I asked if there were any promotions I could have applied to reduce my bill a little. The lady turned to her PC and said she would see what she could do... about two minutes she said "I've reduced your bill from $205 to $159, with this month's being $154". I obviously thanked her profusely, and confirmed that this is with all my existing services. I'm expecting to see a "handsome man" discount listed on the next bill, or perhaps a "beautiful English accent" line item. I'd add that the last time I asked (live chat) about a year ago if there was anything they could do to reduce my price at the existing services, they said no. So maybe they have more latitude in-store than the chat/phone guys do? I don't know. Either way, maybe see if you guys can get something similar. I certainly think Suddenlink is overpriced, but since they're an effective monopoly in many of their areas, they can essentially charge what they wish with little competition from slow DSL. I'm happy with how this turned out. And that's after tax too, not before, which I was very surprised about (so bottom line price is now $159/month, not $159+tax/month). -- My PC Gaming Blog http://www.unbooted.com

so a little background: a tree fell on our power/cable lines last week and new lines had to be run for both (it took them a week longer than what they said it would take to come, in the meantime we had a bunch of cable laying all over the ground in our yard; great business-class service). they replaced the cable the other day but the cable between our house and the pole is too taught and is very close to the power line. we started getting intermittent bouts of packet loss the day after the cable was replaced. yesterday we had packet loss for about 10 minutes and then the internet went out completely, and the same thing just happened again about 20 minutes ago. (i called to get a tech out and they said it's going to take until tuesday for one to come -- let me say again that we have a business account...). when the internet was out both times i couldn't access our modem's page in Chrome to check the status page, and when the internet came back the system uptime was reset. does that mean the modem is the problem and it's dying or shutting down for some reason or is it my ISP's fault for messing up the cable job and the modem being unresponsive/changing uptime is a symptom of that? all of the power level and snr readings are just fine and we've never had any issues with our modem or router (RT-N56U). any input is appreciated.

Well its 2016 and we still stuck in the 90's here

connecting 2 routers together, but each one picked up its own IP

I have a TP-Link wireless router and a Netgear wireless router. The Netgear router is connected via ethernet cable to the Arris CM820A cable modem. Another ethernet cable goes from the Netgear's LAN4 port to the TP-Link's WAN port. I did this so I dont' need to buy a switch to increase the number of ethernet ports. So I now have 7 available LAN ports. (2 used by PCs, 2 used by iMacs, 1 used by Vonage phone adapter, 1 used by Obihai Google Voice phone adapter, 1 used by NAS hard drive enclosure) Everything worked great. However, I noticed something weird. The two routers don't have the same public IP address. (the last 3 digits are different) 75.11x.xx.128 75.11x.xx.66 Is this normal? It doesn't really cause an "issue" but my NAS drive has to reconfigure itself because I do switch it from one router to the other sometimes.(they are not in the same room)

is there a way for me to get a warning when internet goes down?

I've been a Suddenlink customer for several years. The connection has been pretty solid(other than when there are very bad storms.. but even that's kind of rare) However, there are a few times when the connection went down due to maintenance or other random issues. If I'm just browsing the internet or watching videos, it's not a big issues. However, my home security system and phone are both on the same internet connection. Is there a way for me to get a warning when the internet goes down? (such as a warning pop-up on my computer, on my AT&T phone, or perhaps even a device that can be plugged into a router and set off an alarm when the internet goes out?) Thanks!

Texas Suddenlink Outage

After 12 years of being a customer and seeing Suddenlink remain online during 2 hurricanes I'm rather confused at the outage currently occurring. Its understandable that the weather can't be controlled, but the customer service response has been very poor. A generic outage message and disconnecting the line when calling in. Then being told that any service credit for the outage had to be requested (as if Suddenlink did NOT know exactly which customers have no service) is offensive. Then add no updates to the service status. A statement that perhaps a lightning strike or flooding is causing repair problems is easy enough. Instead it is a practice that appears to be stonewalling rather than reaching out. Rather offensive and frustrating. If Siddenlink was dealing with any competition they would be in real trouble.

[BW Meter] why is Suddenlink tracking my usage if I have unlimited plan?

I previously had the Suddenlink business unlimited plan for my home ($79/month, 50mbps) If logged into my account on Suddenlink's website, there's zero mentions of my actual monthly usage. I switched to the $59/month 200mbps residential plan. If I log into my account now, I can see that it shows my current monthly usage, which is 2257GB. (see screenshot attached) why is Suddenlink tracking my usage if I have unlimited plan? Is this just something they do for residential account and not business accounts?

[Connectivity] Nodes\Backup Power

I have a Business Account What is the typical backup power run times on the nodes when the power goes out? My node come out of Pilot Point/Little Elm Texas. My power went out about 10:10PM and the RF Signal went out about 10~15 Minutes later. My ups kept the network switches and router up until about 11:50PM and I turned everything off. 5 Minutes later the power came back on and the RF Signal was back. Anyway we can get extended run times on these nodes? I never lost the cell phone tower during all of this. Regards, Thomas -- You never know when you need your old hardware till you throw it out. An EE once told me, If the hammer you are using is not working, You need to use a larger hammer.

Abilene, TX constant packet loss going on for two weeks

Was hoping anyone had any insight of any problems in this area or experiencing the same. For about two weeks I click on a web page, not connected. Five seconds later good to go for about 30 seconds. It has its moments as you can see in the attached report. But when it does, forget online gaming and be ready to curse normal browsing. When I called last Friday, it was "being" worked on.... well it wasn't fixed. I have calling SL due to all they want to do is truck rolls which most of us know does not help given the amount of times we have had to do this. Router has been reset, to factory and tried multiple configurations including directly to it.

[Bill] usage sky rocketing last few months

Anyones else usage sky rocket over the last few months?? we have never hit our cap, never even came close..now all of a sudden we are going over it the last 2 months..like 25 gigs. we are trying to figure out what the hell is going on..before the last 2 months the most we ever used was 200 gigs..now we are at 275....and still doing same thing we always have

why doesn't SL have plans between 200/20($59) and 1000/50($99)

$

Suddenlink only offers these two unlimited plans in my town: $59/month - 200 down / 20 up $99/month - 1000 down / 50 up 200mbps down is WAAAAY more than what I need. I have never gone faster than maybe 80mbps download and that only happens once or twice week for very brief amount of time. What I really need is upload speeds faster than 20mbps, but the next higher plan is 1000mbps down / 50mbps up plan, which is $40 more. Like I said, I got no use for all that download speed. What are the chances that Suddenlink will offer plans with faster upload, say 30mbps or 40mbps upload, for $10 or $20 more per month? Thanks!

Just seeing who has slower internet speeds than we have in Many, LA Sabine parish. The fastest offered in our area is 15 mbps down 1.5 up. And i think that's just pathetic that in 2016 with the age of gigabit and beyond speeds. even suddenlink has a gig in other markets! can someone with suddenlink please explain this. one last thing. i pay the same price that others are paying for 50 mbps and more!

Now just need to post the story about what suddenlink/altice/drahi is doing in WV and in uncompetitive area's in the comment section and will be nationwide. Never know cbs might even broadcast what suddenlink/altice/drahi is doing.

http://imgur.com/s3Y2lSa http://imgur.com/mERUwAC Router shows very little usage. Ping is still awful... Happens daily from 4pm-10pmish. We have had the 100/7.5mb package for 6 months or so and still only connect to 1 upstream... At around 3am the bufferbloat and quality score get a A/B most of the time thanks to my router, Asus RT-AC66R, I will post that later tonight.
